    5. Call of Duty 5: Nazi Zombies
Console: PC, Xbox 360, Wii, PS3
    Release Date: November 11th, 2008

Originally intended as a minigame for Call of Duty 5: World at War, the “Nazi Zombie” game has risen into its own, a la Counter Strike. You, and up to three other team members (Local, or over the internet) team up in survival mode. Players go through rounds of zombie hordes, racking up points for killing zombies, and other various tasks in the game. Points are used for weapons, weapons upgrades and map unlocking. Lots of fun, but extremely hectic. Just like tetris, you will be devoured. Eventually. Weapons include various rifles and machine guns, ray guns, and monkey bombs that zombies attract to once thrown.

    4. Left 4 Dead
    Console: PC, Xbox 360
    Release Date: November 18th, 2008

You might be undead if you’ve not played this one! Haha, oh man do I make myself laugh. Left 4 Dead, from the creators of Half-Life 2 is similar to the Nazi Zombies minigame of COD: 5. Groups of up to 4 are pitted up against the zombie horde, controlled by an ominous director who controls the pacing and difficulty of the game. The game is heavily co-operative, relying on specific rules to engross players in the team experience. Weapons include shotguns, rifles, and machine guns.

    3.Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Console: SNES, Sega Genesis, Wii Virtual Console
    Release Date: July 19th, 1993

Hands down, this is my favorite zombie game on the list. Released in 1993 on the SNES and Genesis consoles, ZamN puts you in the role of either Zeke or Julie, as they contend with a neighborhood of Zombies, and other B-Movie favorites like werewolves, vampires, and overgrown babies. Weapons include silverware, soda can grenades, and weed whackers.

    2.Doom
    Console: PC
    Release Date: December 10th, 1993

The Grandaddy of them all, Doom. Play this for pure nostalgia. Whether you were a member of your school’s Trench Coat Mafia, or you spent all day in front of your Gateway, or you were a fan of the Trent Reznor soundtrack , Doom had something to offer everyone. Trapped on Mars, you had to fight your way through various hellish creatures. Maybe these weren’t zombies per se, but if there wasn’t Doom, we wouldn’t have the culture of gaming we have today. Weapons included guns, chainsaws, and the ever popular BFG9000.

    1.Resident Evil

    Console: Sony Playstation
    Release Date: March 22nd, 1996.
Another precursor modern gaming, Resident Evil was the perennial, original Zombie Game. Playing as Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine, members of a local law enforcement task force. Chris/Jill is sent to the Mansion to uncover just what in God’s name is going on. Players are delighted to find a whole lot of hell going on. Zombies munching on people, zombie dogs, and other freaks are trying to take you out. This game was the first game to make me almost lose my bowels, in the scene where dogs jump through the window out of nowhere. Great stuff. Weapons included pistols, shotguns, and knives. Truly the survivalist’s game.
There you have it. What better way to get ready for the pending zombie apocalypse.
